The mission of the Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program (MTUPP) in McCone County is to address the public health crisis caused by the use of all forms of commercial tobacco products.  MTUPP will work to eliminate tobacco use, especially among young people, via programs and policies throughout the county and state.

Every year the McCone County Tobacco Use Prevention Program writes a work plan for the contract year (July-June), stating its goals and objectives as follows:
· Increase Community Capacity
· Reduce Youth Initiation to Tobacco
· Promote Cessation Services
· Eliminate Exposure to Secondhand Smoke

The tobacco industry continues to hook Montanans into tobacco addiction through well-funded, aggressive marketing, often targeting vulnerable populations.  Overall, too many adults and youth in Montana still smoke and use spit tobacco.
